There are presently 2 avenues of representative football on the Gold Coast for junior players ranging from 11 to 18 years of age.
The Education Department (School Sport) coordinate the U12 and U15 South Coast Regional and District programs. They conduct District and Regional Trials in March/April each year and nomination is via school sports masters. These teams participate in a State Championship each year at which the QLD Heat (State) team is selected to participate in the National Championships.

The Gold Coast Stingrays coordinate the remaining three programs for the U14, U16 and U18 age groups. These three development squads all represent the region at State Championships, where a Queensland Scorpions team is selected to participate in the National Championships.
