The Gold Coast SUNS have made just one change to their twenty five man squad ahead of this weekend’s match against the in-form Collingwood Magpies at the MCG.

Towering Ruck Zac Smith has been omitted from the side, his place taken by Tom Hickey who has been pressing for a first team call up with some strong form in the GC SUNS NEAFL team.

Smith has struggled to emulate the form he produced during his debut season in the AFL so far this year, while Hickey has been waiting in the wings for his shot at the prized centre square position.

At 201 centimetres, Hickey, a former Queensland Volleyball representative who joined the GC SUNS as a Queensland Zone priority selection adds agility, strength and speed to the Gold Coast squad as they attempt to contain the in-form Pies.

Tom Lynch is another of the Gold Coasters sure to be closely marked during Sunday’s contest.

Lynch played a crucial role for the SUNS against Port Adelaide last weekend, finishing the contest with eighteen disposals and forming a potent partnership with our next player of focus Sam Day.

Day kicked the first and finished with three goals in powerhouse performance at full forward, the solidly built twenty year old producing his best form since pulling on the SUNS Guernsey after an injury plagued pre-season campaign.

Andrew McQualter will also relish the chance to once again run out onto the MCG, with the Gold Coast coaching staff once again calling on the experienced half forward to help maintain composure and structure.

Caddy, Hall, Horsley, Magin, McKenzie and Shaw have all been named on an extended interchange with three to be omitted
