Jesse Lonergan and Andrew Boston are set to be monitored by the club's medical staff after both Gold Coast players went down with injury in the GC SUNS NEAFL season opener against Southport at Fankhauser Reserve this afternoon.
Lonergan, the GC SUNS' No. 13 pick from the 2012 AFL Draft, injured his left hand in a tackle during the opening term and left the field immediately, playing no further part in the match.
Coach Josh Fraser was down to just two rotations mid-way through the third quarter, with Boston forced to signal for a stretcher after landing awkwardly on his right ankle.
Both players have been sent for scans.
