The Gold Coast SUNS can confirm third-year defender Connor Budarick has ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee.
Budarick was involved in a collision in the final quarter of the match against Collingwood, leaving the field shortly after.
He will miss the remainder of the season as he begins to rehabilitate the injury.
“Further assessment of Connor’s knee confirmed he’s ruptured ACL, which will require surgery to repair,” GC SUNS Head Physiotherapist Lindsay Bull told the Qscan Injury Update.
“It’s really disappointing news for Connor who injured the same knee early in the 2021 season.”
“We’re all behind Connor as he begins his recovery and we know he will attack his rehab with full conviction as he has done in the past.”
Ben Ainsworth also left the field late in the match with an ankle injury and will be assessed through training this week.
In positive news, Jack Lukosius made a comeback from his PCL injury in the VFL on the weekend, performed well and will train fully this week.
