An unavoidable family commitment will mean Gold Coast SUNS captain Gary Ablett will miss the Gold Coast AFL Open Day at Metricon Stadium on Saturday.
Ablett said it was unfortunate both events fell on the same day.
“Unfortunately I will be unable to join my teammates and our fans at Metricon Stadium on Saturday for the Gold Coast AFL Open Day. I am sure our fans will have a great day.”
“It’s extremely unlucky that both events will coincide on the same day, but I look forward to seeing all of our fans at our many events throughout the year,” Ablett said.
Ablett, who is also AFL Queensland's Community Football Ambassador, encouraged fans to attend the open day.
“The club, AFL and AFL Gold Coast Juniors have got a great day planned. Not only will it be a good chance to meet our players, but importantly is a perfect opportunity for both boys and girls to sign on with their local Junior AFL Club.”
The Gold Coast AFL Open Day will commence at 9am on Saturday.
