Josh Corbett (FWD): $170,000
One of the trio of special assistance state-league signings, Josh Corbett is firming as an exciting AFL Fantasy selection in 2019.
Playing for Werribee in the VFL last year, Corbett averaged 7.6 marks per game and kicked 22 goals in nine games to cement his place as one of the best state-league players in the country.
His form was rightfully rewarded with a place on the SUNS senior list for 2019, and Corbett is already turning heads at training.
He was a standout in the club’s first match simulation of 2019, kicking two goals in just 30 minutes of play and displayed good leading patterns as a forward.
He also performed well in the 2km time trial for someone of his height, highlighting his athletic capacity as a prospected third tall forward.
Priced at the basement cost of just $170K, if Corbett is named in the team for round one he will be a lock for the majority of Fantasy coaches in the forward line.
While most rookie forwards typically don’t score well in the Fantasy format, the sheer work-rate and athletic capacity of Corbett will only help his output and keep his score ticking over.
Plus, if he manages to snag a couple of goals each game that will be a bonus.
Keep an eye on the SUNS’ JLT Community Series matches to see if and how Corbett slots into the team structure – but strong performances in that competition could make him a must-have forward to start the year.
