Seven Gold Coast SUNS players have been awarded votes in the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year award for round three.
Playing just his second game after a 20-month absence, midfielder David Swallow polled a perfect ten votes from the coaches.
He was one of seven players in the competition to receive the maximum amount of votes, alongside players such as Dustin Martin (Richmond), Rory Sloane (Adelaide) and Nick Riewoldt (St Kilda).
Swallow finished the game with 34 disposals, nine clearances and six tackles.
Recording his first votes in SUNS colours, Jarrod Witts (6 votes) was instrumental in the victory. His 40 hit-outs giving first use of the ball to the SUNS midfielders, allowing them to win the clearance count convincingly.
Gary Ablett (4 votes) responded to criticism of his performance by setting the tone for the SUNS with the game’s first clearance and an early goal. He finished with 36 disposals, ten clearances and two goals.
Jack Martin (4 votes) had three first half goals, including one in the game's opening minute, and three goal assists. He had 23 disposals at 87 per cent efficiency, to go along with five tackles and four inside 50s.
Aaron Hall (3 votes), Touk Miller (2 votes) and Brandon Matera (1 vote) round out the voting list.
