It was another fantastic day at Metricon Stadium for the teams training session.
The squad warmed up out on the training field before moving into our fantastic new stadium. They prefer to use the stadium where possible so they can watch The Circle on the big screen while they are training.
Today there was segment on stay home Daddies. This segment was of particular interest to Daniel Harris and Jared Brennan, I did see them taking notes, none of the other boys seemed at all interested though, most of them have just come out of nappies themselves.
Anyway, I digress. There was a lot of get up and go today. The team was making a lot of noise out on the ground, this was because the group was divided up into four teams, Red, Black, Orange and Green.
I did have to ask Assistant Coach Cheesy O’Bree what the colours were though. I’m not sure if you have noticed by my super special glasses are yellow therefore everything looks yellow.
This does making driving difficult as all traffic lights look the same, but I have worked out the light at the top is RED, so that’s when I know to stop. Or is RED at the bottom…???
Sorry, I’m digressing again. The teams were divided evenly for a few drills, where they competed against each other, and let me tell you that the competitiveness was on show. No one likes to lose around here. You should have seen Dave Swallow when he found out he wasn’t in the running to be the AFL’s sexist player!
The noise around the stadium was electric as well with all the boys cheering each other on. I thought they were cheering for me, I jumped over 6 Powerade bottles, it was a massive moment for me.
Gary Ablett and Jared Brennan were amongst a small group of players that had a light session, that means they did some basic drills and movement, not a competition to see who is the lightest.
While Michael Rischitelli and Danny Stanley had a very, not so serious, goal kicking competition under the watchful eye and what appeared to be the jealous eye of Ken Hinkley. Kenny was never very good at kicking goals.
Karmichael Hunt trained well, and I think we will see him back in the seniors very soon. There were also a few media types whispering about the chance of yet another GC SUN making his AFL debut, so we will have to watch that space.
GO SUNS!
