Paying tribute to the ANZACS and our nation’s fallen heroes, Jack Martin and Clay Cameron joined thousands of Gold Coasters at Elephant Rock for the annual Dawn Service this morning.

Tens of thousands across the Glitter Strip braved the cold and windy weather to remember those lost at war, and the diggers who served in the line of fire.

GC SUNS Chief Executive Officer – Travis Auld, joined the players at Currumbin, laying a wreath on behalf of the football club.

“It was great that Clay and Jack were able to represent the club in an official capacity at this morning’s service.

“Both players commented after the service that they learnt a lot and enjoyed the experience and what is just as pleasing is that we had a number of other players attend services across the Gold Coast off their own bat,” Auld said.

For Cameron, the opportunity to represent the SUNS in club colours was a humbling experience.

“It has become such an important day for all Australians, so it was great to get down there and show our respects.”

Currumbin RSL president Ron Workman welcomed the huge crowds to Elephant Rock.

“Today we stop to remember those who stood in the gap and served to protect us,” he told News Limited.

“No matter what they say, freedom is never free.”
