Gold Coast stars Dion Prestia and Luke Russell recently spent time with a pint size Gold Coaster making a huge impression on the international skateboard scene.

Ten year old sensation Keegan Palmer is already being compared to Skating legend Tony Hawk, and the Palm Beach locals fearless approach his sport certainly impressed the SUNS duo.

“He is such a cool kid” said Russell “The things he can do on a skateboard absolutely blew me away and he just has no fear.”

Similarly Prestia enjoyed spending time with the clubs newest fan.

“Keegan is so determined and focussed on achieving his goals which is amazing because he’s just ten years old.”

“He is absolutely comfortable trying even the hardest tricks, and you can just tell that he will definitely be a big name in skateboarding for a long time.”

Already international surf/skate clothing company Hurley have Keegan signed to a lucrative contract and there are many other associated with the industry keeping close tabs on his progression.

Comfortable in high-pressure moments, Palmer achieved the impossible earlier this year by taking out the 2013 U18 Australian Bowl Riding Championships, beating competitors nearly twice his age.

Accepting a special invitation to compete at the Rocky Mountain Rampage in Denver Colorado, Palmer was one of the youngest competitors at the World Skateboarding event in the U15 vertical ramp and bowl division.

Speaking in a SUNS TV special feature, hosted by Prestia and Russell, Palmer told viewers he was looking forward to heading overseas to test out his skills against the best the sport had to offer.

“I’m looking forward to it. I’m going to be heading first to Colorado practising for a competition, but a few days before I’ll be able to visit some family as well,” he said.

With his 540 and 700 turns fast becoming Palmer’s signature moves, the young Gold Coast skater did his best to teach the boys some of his favourite tricks, but to no avail.

“You’re definitely a lot better at AFL,” Keegan said to Russell.

Presented with a Superman SUNS T-Shirt and a New Era SUNS cap, the Gold Coast SUNS players made Palmer an honorary member of the Club before his departure to the United States.
