WITH the Gold Coast Stadium not due to be completed until mid-2011, the Gold Coast Football Club will be shopped around the city next season.

The community will get the chance to see the GCFC take part in the VFL right across the Coast, with the home games to be shared across three QAFL clubs.

The VFL draw includes five home games to be played at the Southport Sharks and two games each for the Broadbeach and Labrador football clubs.

Matches will include curtain-raisers from AFL Queensland state league clubs and half-time games from Gold Coast junior clubs.

Entry to the games will be free. All games will be played on Saturday afternoons during the season.

The GCFC will also head to Cairns for a home game in July.

VFL is considered the premier football competition outside AFL level and the GCFC will take on iconic clubs such as Geelong and Collingwood at home.

GCFC chief executive Travis Auld said it would be a big step up for the young playing group.

"We will have some great contests as our young group of players take on some heavyweight teams in the VFL," he said.

"It's going to be a tough year as our boys take on the men of the VFL but with the quality of squad and the program the players are going through, we are confident we will give it a good shot."

Auld said the fixtures allowed the Coast community to embrace the team that will enter the AFL in 2011.

"We would love all the supporters to come and see the Gold Coast Football Club in action," he said.

"It will be great opportunity to get behind the team and show your support as we take football to a new level in the region.
"Local clubs will be well represented and fundraising will all go back to the local football community."
