New Gold Coast SUNS assistant coach Matthew Primus is refreshed and ready to get back into coaching in 2013.
"It was a good break (after finishing at Port Adelaide), but after a couple of weeks you are itching to get back into it," said Primus.
I am really excited by the move; it is a totally different environment to the one I have been in.
"I am looking forward to challenging myself, along with the rest of the players."
Primus will be responsible for looking after the midfield, and also passing on his intricate knowledge of the ruck position he made his own during his playing career, and is looking forward to working with the talented young squad.
"There is a lot of young talent there, a lot of young players there and I am really looking forward to coaching them and building some real good relationships with them," he said.
I'll be looking after the midfield, with a lot of stoppage stuff and movement out of the midfield, and some of the key forwards too.
Primus says his decision to join the Gold Coast SUNS was down to a couple of factors.
"The attraction was working with a huge amount of talented young players that have done a lot of hard work over the last couple of years, and looking forward to helping them in whatever way I can with their careers," he said.
"I am still commuting a little bit but it has been good. I am getting used to the weather, which is beautiful; it hasn't missed a beat since I have been up here.
I am really looking forward to the lifestyle and working with a young talented group of not only players, but also coaches.
Primus is looking forward to the trip to Arizona, where he can spend some time getting to know the players and coaches.
"It is two weeks over there of nothing else but spending time with each other, so for me personally it will be a great way for me to get to know the guys and a lot of time to start building relationships," he said.
Primus will make the permanent move to the Gold Coast after returning from the Arizona trip, and is happy to field any offers for people renting out houses.
"We will be looking late November to get up here and move everyone permanently," he said.
We are looking around for a place to rent, so if anyone has got a nice 4 bedroom house for me to rent, I have to get my wife and three girls up here.
