Since being drafted by the SUNS with the first overall pick in the 2019 AFL Draft, Matt Rowell has been arguably the club’s best contested player. He has elevated his game to be one of the elite AFL contested midfielders and has incredible defensive attributes, evidenced by breaking the AFL’s regular season tackle record in 2023. At his best, Rowell can break a game apart and he will be looking to continue to elevate his game under Damien Hardwick in 2024. Rowell is contracted until the end of 2025.
