Give your students an experience to remember spending a day living like a Gold Coast SUNS player!
The Gold Coast SUNS are pleased to be continuing one of its newest offerings A Day in the Life, allowing school students the opportunity to immerse themselves in the daily routines of SUNS AFL & AFLW players.
A Day in the Life experience mimics a traditional daily schedule of SUNS AFL and AFLW players including a specifically-tailored education session designed by AFLW player and AFL Schools Ambassador Lauren Ahrens, physical-based on-field and gym sessions as well as a guided tour behind the scenes at People First Stadium.
The single-day experience is available to all secondary schools with modified offerings available for primary school students.
What can you expect?
- Upon arrival at People First Stadium, complete a specifically tailored education program for your group.
- Tour the facilities at People First Stadium, including player change rooms, warm-up areas, interchange benches, corporate seating areas and plenty more behind the scenes
- Take part in a 60-minute physical session on the People First Stadium Training Oval.
- Make use of the SUNS state-of-the-art gym facilities and complete a tailored gym program
The program, which has received rousing feedback from schools right across Australia, is one of a number of education programs offered by the Gold Coast SUNS.
What did you think of the GC SUNS Day in the Life program?
A group of our year 8 students attended the ‘Day in the life’ program in July. This was an amazing experience for our students with all of them expressing that they had not done anything like this before. Getting a behind the scenes look at real AFL facilities and partaking in a training session with AFLW players is experience they will never forget. The AFLW players who hosted us were engaging and the students warmed to them quickly. This program as well as the ‘SUNS fitness’ program were both well aligned to our HPE curriculum which benefited our students learning immensely.” Glenmore State High School
The kids absolutely loved it – would certainly be something we’d love to continue when we come up to QLD for camps. Also wanted to say how great Ellie (Ellie Hampson) and Daisy (Daisy D’Arcy) were. They interacted so well with the kids and ran a great program for the day – Ballarat High School
The kids really enjoyed it, Ellie and Daisy were really great as well! Honestly couldn’t fault it – Banora Point High School
I just wanted to say a huge thank you to you and your team for a great experience day for my students at Southport SHS. The day was awesome and the kids loved been exposed to what it is like to spend the day as an elite AFL player. A special mention to Ellie for running the day and Harbs (Jarrod Harbrow) and Jacko (Jackson Kornberg) for talking to our students. They loved every minute of it! – Southport State High School
