The Gold Coast SUNS can provide a Qscan Injury Update on two key players heading into Round 9 in Darwin.
Midfielder Lachie Weller succumbed to a hamstring injury in the first quarter of the QClash at the Gabba on Sunday night.
GC SUNS Head Physiotherapist Lindsay Bull said Weller was expected to miss approximately six weeks as he recovers from the injury.
“Lachie has sustained a high-grade injury to his hamstring and on further examination and results of imaging we expect him to be unavailable until after our bye in Round 14,” Bull said.
In-form forward Ben Long was also withdrawn prior to the QClash with his own hamstring injury, and is listed as a test for this weekend.
“Ben reported some tightness in his hamstring on Friday last week and we opted to take a conservative approach,” Bull said.
“He will progress through training this week before a call on his availability for Round 9 is made,” Bull said.
Hybrid defender Jy Farrar has also sustained a fractured finger during training which required surgery, and is expected to be sidelined in the short-term.
