Gary Ablett has tonight been crowned the inaugural Club Champion at the Gold Coast SUNS Best and Fairest awards at Southport Sharks.

Ablett, who was awarded votes in all but one of the 20 matches he played throughout the season, polled a total of 196 votes. Winning the award ahead of vice-captain Nathan Bock (138 votes) and Michael Rischitelli (100 votes).

The Gold Coast SUNS skipper has had a remarkable season, averaging 30 disposals a game, kicking 17 goals and having 133 clearances, 99 Inside 50’s and 62 Rebound 50’s .

Gold Coast SUNS Club Champion Voting System
The Gold Coast SUNS match committee, comprising of the senior coach and three assistant coaches can award votes to an unlimited number of players per match. A player can receive a maximum of five votes, from each individual member of the match committee, therefore the maximum number of votes a player can receive per round totals 20.
