David Swallow will miss Saturday's blockbuster against Collingwood at Metricon Stadium with a knee injury.
Swallow injured his knee during the opening term of last weekend’s match against Richmond in Cairns, and despite playing out the game, hasn't overcome the injury in time to be available to tackle the Magpies.
GC SUNS General Manager – Football Operations, Marcus Ashcroft confirmed the extent of Swallow’s injury to goldcoastfc.com.au.
“David coped a knock to his knee in last weekend’s game, he had scans earlier in the week which cleared him of an serious injury, however it did show a little bit of damage.
“The injury shouldn’t keep David sidelined for long and we are hopeful that he will be available for senior selection against Carlton next week.”
The 20-year-old midfielder has been a revelation for the Gold Coasters since making the switch into defence earlier this year, and has performed a number of stellar defensive jobs on some of the competition’s elite forwards including Hayden Ballantyne, Patrick Dangerfield and Lindsay Thomas as well as providing plenty of drive off the half back line.
