Jesse Lonergan will be iced for the remainder of the 2013 Premiership Season, after suffering another set-back in his rehabilitation from a hamstring injury.
The Gold Coast’s top draft pick re-injured his hamstring at training in the lead-up to the side’s Round 18 clash against the Blues.
GC SUNS High Performance Manager – Stephen Schwerdt, updated goldcoastfc.com.au on the extent of Longeran’s injury.
“Unfortunately Jesse has had a set-back in his hamstring injury last Wednesday and is going to be out for a few more weeks,” Schwerdt said.
The 18-year-old midfielder showed plenty of promise in his four AFL appearances in his debut season, and will benefit greatly from having another pre-season under his belt.
Lonergan will fly home to Tasmania for a week, spending time with family and friends, before heading back to the Gold Coast where he’ll continue his rehabilitation.
