Tom Nicholls has been ruled out of this afternoon’s clash against Greater Western Sydney at Metricon Stadium.

The 201cm ruckman sustained a minor calf strain at Friday’s final training session, and after being assessed by club medical staff, was withdrawn from the side’s round six match against the Giants.

Originally omitted from the senior team, Matthew Warnock will replace Nicholls.

General Manager Football Operations Marcus Ashcroft confirmed the injury to goldcoastfc.com.au.

“Unfortunately for Tom he experienced calf soreness yesterday and was unable to complete training,” Ashcroft said.

“While the injury doesn’t appear to be serious, he will be unavailable to play this afternoon.”
