Gold Coast SUNS livewire forward Jarrod Garlett has been nominated for the 2015 Goal of the Year for his piece of individual brilliance against Geelong on Sunday afternoon.
In just his third senior appearance, and maiden start without the substitutes vest, Garlett mopped up a kick from Nick Malceski from defensive 50 before taking off on the outer wing at Simonds Stadium.
With dare and dash, Garlett took one look at the closest Geelong player’s and tucked the ball under his arm, before putting on the afterburners. Mitch Clark and Mark Blicavs stood no chance of catching the fleet footed West Australian.
Garlett took four bounces as he loped away from his pursuers, before composing himself and finishing off his work from 35m out.
To win the Gold of the Year, Garlett requires the support of the SUNS faithful as the general public determine each week’s winner.
