When the SUNS run out onto Metricon Stadium on Saturday evening to tackle Melbourne, revered leader Jarrod Harbrow will become the first Gold Coast player to register 100 games in the red and gold.
It’s an important achievement for both club and player, and one that will be treasured far more if the SUNS are ahead on the scoreboard when the final siren sounds.
“It’s a small little milestone, something I’m pretty proud of,” Harbrow told SUNS TV.
“Always thankful for the football club for giving me the opportunity. It’ll make it a bit more sweeter if we have a win.”
In his 99 games for the SUNS, Harbrow has tasted victory on just 29 occasions, with every win holding a special place.

The dashing utility couldn’t isolate one moment, saying he enjoys multiple elements of a game day.
“I suppose any win that comes our way, I think we’ll always cherish a win,” he said.
“There’s so many different little moments in a game I think, I can’t really pinpoint or say anything that stands out.
“I think it’s just good running out, playing football each weekend. It’s a good feeling and you get to do it with your teammates, you run out with a decent crowd and in a great stadium so it’s all those little things that add up.”
After winning the first three games of the season, the SUNS have lost three on the trot to sit 3-3 and 10th on the ladder, making this weekend’s clash a must-win game to push the club back into positive territory.
Gold Coast suffered a demoralising loss to Geelong last weekend, but Harbrow believes the SUNS can turn it around with hard work and the right attitude.

“We’ve got expectations and standards that we have to live up to each week,” Harbrow said.
“We’re obviously not playing the way we want to at the moment but I think a lot of the things we aren’t doing right is certainly fixable.
“We don’t go out each week hoping to lose. It’s just about rocking up with the right attitude and at the end of the day, the best way to get ourselves out of this is hard work.
“I think if you work hard and you’re honest with yourself in your effort and everyone brings that then collectively as a team we’re in the right frame of mind.”
