There may have been less than 5,000 people in attendance with terrible weather conditions turning Metricon Stadium into an impromptu water park on Saturday night, but the Jesse Joyce fan club was out in force despite the torrential rain.

The local Gold Coast product, making his AFL debut against the Sydney Swans in front of a large contingent of family and friends, received a large cheer when he ran onto the ground early in the first quarter and another soon after when he collected his first touch at the top level.

The former SUNS Academy player finished the game with 10 disposals, two tackles and three inside 50s and didn’t look overawed by the occasion.
