The Gold Coast SUNS reserves have kept their NEAFL finals hopes alive with a 113-point demolishing of Redland at Yeronga on Sunday.

After kicking their way to a 30-point half-time lead, the SUNS put the pedal to the metal after the main break, booting 15 goals to two to run out 26.15 (171) to 9.4 (58) winners.

Clay Cameron provided a strong target up forward, booting 5.4, ably assisted by Academy players Nick Kempe (four goals) and Jack Bowes (three).

Brayden Fiorini
, selected with pick No. 20 in last year’s national draft, showed his class with 31 disposals and four goals while Mitch Hallahan gathered 32 disposals in a strong display in the midfield.

Cam Loersch
had 26 disposals and ten marks, Tom Keough had 25 leading the backline, while Trent McKenzie had 26 before succumbing to injury.

In his return from a hamstring injury, Adam Saad played three quarters of the game while rookie Darcy Macpherson also made his return to football from a long-term knee injury.

The SUNS reserves sit one game out of the top six with games against the Giants, Southport and Aspley to come.
