With the Gold Coast SUNS looking to field a near full-strength lineup in their final JLT Series match against the Western Bulldogs this Thursday, the majority of outside focus has been on the inclusion of former skipper Gary Ablett and what he’ll add to the side in his first appearance of 2017.
But quietly slipping under the radar is another key inclusion for the Southeast Queensland side, with former Adelaide Crow Jarryd Lyons set to make his debut in the red and gold, providing the SUNS engine room with another huge boost.

Lyons played 20 games for the Crows last season including two finals, averaging 21.7 disposals per game (10.4 contested) and kicking 15 goals in what was his best year at the top level.
The consistent 24-year-old arrived at Metricon Stadium during last year’s trade period and after missing the first two pre-season games with a minor ankle injury, his new teammates are excited to finally welcome him onto the park alongside them this week.
“He’s been doing really well over the pre-season,” midfielder Touk Miller told reporters on Monday at SUNS Headquarters.

“In terms of an inside midfielder, he’s fantastic. Super hands, super clean.
“Obviously experienced from Adelaide as well, from another club which are really highly respected, so we’re looking forward to seeing him out on the track and delivering his best.
“So we’re super excited.”
