Bodhi Uwland and Teagan Levi have won the male and female Academy Player of the Year award at Gold Coast’s 2021 Club Champion event.
Uwland was part of a disrupted NAB League season but played a major role for the SUNS Academy team in a win over the Brisbane Lions.
He instead played a large portion of the year for the SUNS VFL playing a part in a strong defensive unit.
In six matches for the SUNS VFL team, Uwland averaged 12.5 disposals mixing it with some AFL experienced players.
Levi had an outstanding year for the SUNS Academy, culminating in 2021 NAB AFLW U19 All-Australian selection.
Recently drafted by the SUNS with pick 6 in the 2021 NAB AFLW Draft, Levi has impressed with her ability to break away from stoppages through her strength and agility.
The Gold Coast local was a part of the Queensland team that took part in the NAB AFLW U19 Championships earlier this year.
Despite only playing one game for the tournament, Levi was Queensland’s best that day with 16 disposals and six clearances.
The pair follow in the footsteps of last year’s winners Connor Budarick and who have both progressed to the SUNS list.
