Gold Coast SUNS captain David Swallow’s incredible consistency has been recognised with a third-place finish in the 2021 Club Champion.
Swallow finished on 352 votes, back from Wil Powell (396) in second and Touk Miller (562) in first.
He was locked in a battle with vice-captain Sam Collins for third place, eventually beating the key defender out by two votes to finish on the podium.
Swallow has played a variety of roles to suit team needs this year, playing as an inside midfielder, half-forward and half-back at different times throughout the season.
The 28-year-old averaged 22 disposals, five marks and five tackles per game in 2021.
His best performances according to the coaches came in Rounds 1, 6 and 8 where he polled 28 votes in each match.
In the absence of fellow co-captain Jarrod Witts, Swallow was also a fantastic leader for the club on and off the field.
He can always be relied upon to execute his role and lead from example when the team needs it most.
