The Gold Coast SUNS are pleased to confirm the appointment of Jackson Kornberg to the role of VFL Head Coach for next season.
Kornberg joins the club from Sandringham Dragons, where he has worked in coaching for the last 10 years.
Most recently he coached the Sandringham Dragons Under 19 NAB League Boys side to an 8-1 record in 2021 before the season was halted due to COVID restrictions in Victoria.
The 28-year-old has also coached the Sandringham NAB League Girls, while working stints as an assistant coach with both Carlton and North Melbourne’s AFLW programs in recent years.
GC SUNS General Manager of Football Performance Wayne Campbell said Kornberg would be a valued addition to the club’s coaching panel.
“Jackson has fantastic experience in development coaching which will be a large part of his new role with the club as he coaches our VFL team,” Campbell said.
“We were really impressed by his ability to build relationships, his technical capability and his desire to work, learn and grow.
“Jackson's appointment finalises our coaching group for 2022 and we are really pleased with the experienced and diverse group of coaches that will be responsible for developing our young talented list."
The club has also re-engaged experienced coach Neil Craig to again work with the club as Coaching Advisor.
After previously holding the role of VFL Head Coach in 2021, Tate Kaesler will have a new responsibility as the Team Defence & Strategy Coach for next season.
The SUNS have now finalised the coaching structure for 2022 after the off-season additions of Steven King (Senior Assistant Coach), Brad Miller (Assistant Coach) and Kornberg
