The Gold Coast SUNS have today given Major Charity partner, RizeUp, a massive boost for Christmas as they continue their 2021 RizeUp Christmas Appeal and launch their Christmas Wrapping station at the Harbour Town Gift Outlet.
Touk Miller, Nick Holman, Alex Sexton, Charlie Rowbottom and Kalinda Howarth were all on hand, on behalf of the Gold Coast SUNS, to donate over 200 gifts for children and families fleeing violent situations at home.
The SUNS have been long-term supporters of the work that RizeUp do in helping create awareness and educate the community around the prevention of domestic and family violence.
Now in its fifth year RizeUp Australia’s annual Christmas Appeal is this year aiming to collect donations of 15,000 gifts to distribute to families
“It’s such a momentous day when you see support of this magnitude from both Harbour Town Premium Outlets and Gold Coast SUNS,” CEO & Founder RizeUp Australia Nicolle Edwards said.
“Were just under 10,000 gifts received, so we’ve got a little bit of a way to go, but the community can still donate at both Harbour Town, Helensvale Storage King or even the Gold Coast SUNS offices at Metricon Stadium.
“It’s our goal and the goal of the community to meet these targets and make sure we’re putting smiles on all children’s faces.”
GC SUNS Vice-Captain spoke about why it was so important for the club and it’s players to support the great work that RizeUp Australia are doing each and every day.
“On behalf of everyone at the Gold Coast SUNS, including our members and corporate partners, we’d like to donate these gifts to help support the 2021 Christmas appeal. “
“Nicolle came and spoke with us as a playing group and gave us an insight into what RizeUp was all about and the amazing work they do. Alex (Sexton), Nick (Holman) and myself immediately after that went to the club said we’d love to get more involved, what can we do to help?
“There is a massive opportunity with the fortunate position we’re in to create awareness about the prevention of domestic violence and the services that RizeUp Australia do provide.
“Anything that we as a playing group or football club can do to help, I know we’ll jump straight in and do.”
The players were on site at Official Partner Harbour Town Premium Outlets, to donate the gifts as RizeUp began their Christmas wrapping service at the brand-new Harbour Town Premium Gift Outlet.
The Gift Outlet will facilitate charity gift wrapping with RizeUp, provide Christmas gifting inspiration and shopping storage for the silly season whilst also featuring a Gift Card drive-thru service from December 10 through to December 24, providing shoppers with a new and convenient Christmas shopping option
HTPO Chief Executive Greg Day was on hand at the launch to add to the festive fundraising efforts of RizeUp, handing over a $5,000 cheque as well as $5,000 worth of Christmas gifts for local families affected by domestic violence.
“Throughout Christmas the gift outlet is going to be providing gift wrapping services, drive thru gift card purchases, great Christmas customer service and inspiration for shopping,” Harbour Town Premium Outlets Chief Executive Greg Day said.
Harbour Town Premium Outlets have also extended their partnership with the Gold Coast SUNS ahead of the both the AFL and AFLW campaigns in 2022.
