CAPTAIN Gary Ablett  says he’ll be looking for an improved performance against the Brisbane Lions as they prepare to secure their fourth consecutive home-win at Metricon Stadium this Saturday night.

Speaking at this afternoon’s QCLASH media conference at Metricon Stadium, Ablett said confidence amongst the playing group was high given their strong start to the 2013 AFL Season.

“We had a win first up (against St. Kilda) which was good and last week against Sydney we felt like we played good footy for three quarters,” said Ablett.

“Unfortunately there was that quarter that let us down… so there are a few things we have to fix up and a few things we’ll work on in Wednesday’s main training session but we’re looking forward to jumping into the game.”

Hard-hitting midfielder Karmichael Hunt echoed his skipper’s words, telling reporters the players were up-beat about their chances of winning but were weary upsetting their AFL state rival would be no easy task.

“They might be 0-2 but they had a pretty good game (against Adelaide) by the looks of it, and while they didn’t manage to close the game out, they're going to be fired up,” said Hunt.

Hunt said he would welcome the opportunity play a shut-down role Lion’s star Daniel Rich, after keeping All-Australian midfielder Josh Kennedy to just 11 disposals leading into half-time.

“He’s a class player and definitely difficult to stop,” said Hunt.

“Hopefully if I get the role on Rich I’ll be able to do a good job and put our team in good stead for the win.”
