Seb Tape has taken another big step towards reviving his AFL career, with the no-nonsense defender named as an emergency in  Guy McKenna’s 22-man senior team to face the Adelaide Crows more than twelve months after an ACL injury ended his 2012 campaign.

The inaugural Gold Coast SUNS player has been on a mission to reclaim his place in the GC SUNS back six and in this week’s episode of Mic’d Up, Tape revealed he was edging closer towards staking his case for a first team recall.

“I’ve played four games with the reserves now, three full games, and all against AFL opposition in their reserves team,” Tape said on Monday.

“Each week I am feeling a little bit better and feel like I’m moving forward which is good.”

The 20-year-old South Australian said the Gold Coast’s recent performances against Hawthorn, Geelong and North Melbourne had added fuel to his burning desire to once again play senior football.

“The first two years there were some dark times and sometimes we sort of lost sight of the big picture, but to now get some results makes me want to get back out there that much more,” said Tape.

“I’m really enjoying watching the boys develop and playing some good footy this year, and hopefully I can be back out there with them soon.”
