To celebrate five consecutive years of membership for our inaugural members, the Gold Coast SUNS have revealed a Foundation Guernsey will be worn for the side’s Round 20 match against the Melbourne Demons at Metricon Stadium.
In what has been earmarked by the GC SUNS as the “Foundation Members” Round, the match-day jumper against the Demons will feature the names of the 847 inaugural 2009 members that have maintained their passion and support for the Gold Coast SUNS since the Bid team were awarded the 17th AFL license.
A specially produced commemorative Guernsey will be worn on field this weekend as the Gold Coast SUNS celebrate foundation members Round and honour those who have achieved five consecutive years of Club membership.
Each of the match-day jumpers worn by the GC SUNS players will then be placed on auction immediately following the game, while a specific range of retail products have also been produced, allowing each member the opportunity to purchase a piece of their own history.
GC SUNS General Manager of Marketing, Community and Fan Development – Kelly Ryan, told goldcoastfc.com.au the Foundation Guernsey was a great way to reward and recognise the club’s inaugural and foundation members for their continued support of the club.
“As a new Club we are delighted to reach our first loyalty membership milestone, and over the next two years we plan on recognising these special members by launching the Foundation Members program,” said Kelly.
The Foundation member jumper features the names of each member with a distinct Foundation Members logo positioned across the chest of the jumper.”
The Club also plans to recognise Foundation members with an on field lap of honour while GC SUNS Chairman John Witheriff, himself a Foundation member will represent all first year members when he raises the Club flag from the northern deck.
Selected images provided by Foundation members will also be used in the Countdown clock a minute out from the opening bounce.
The match worn Guernseys will then be placed on auction immediately following the game, check goldcoastfc.com.au and click on the auction tile for details on how you can own a slice of Gold Coast SUNS history.
