The Gold Coast SUNS will make two forced changes to the team to take on North Melbourne in the final match of the 2022 Toyota AFL Premiership Season on Saturday at Marvel Stadium.
Club stalwart Alex Sexton has been recalled to the side to bolster the club’s forward stocks alongside dynamic small Hewago Oea.
Izak Rankine (shoulder) and Sam Day (knee) have been ruled out of the clash through injury, meanwhile last week’s medical substitute Jeremy Sharp hasn’t been named in the AFL side for Round 23.
Sexton has kicked three goals in each of his last three appearances in the VFL, while also demonstrating his defensive side with five tackles in a heated match against Southport Sharks.
An injection of speed from Oea will also benefit the SUNS side against North, with the 20-year-old rewarded on good form with a fifth senior game in his debut year.
Jack Bowes, Chris Burgess, Charlie Constable and James Tsitas have been named on the club’s emergency list ahead of round 23.
One of those four will be named as this week’s medical substitute 60 minutes prior to first bounce on Saturday.
The SUNS will be eager to atone for last week’s loss to ladder leaders Geelong Cats and finish their season strongly.
Last time the two sides met, the SUNS defeated the Kangaroos by 62 points in a Darwin blockbuster in Round 12.
North Melbourne will challenge Gold Coast SUNS at 2:10pm on Saturday in Melbourne, with the game to be broadcast live on Fox Footy, Kayo and the Seven Network (check your local guide).
