The Gold Coast SUNS have traded for small forward Tom Berry in a deal struck with Brisbane.
Along with Berry, the SUNS have received GWS’ future second-round pick, acquired by Brisbane in a prior trade, and selection 46 in the 2022 NAB AFL Draft.
In return, the SUNS have given up selections 25, 36 and 56 in this year’s draft.
Gold Coast SUNS General Manager of Player Talent & Strategy Craig Cameron said Berry was the type of player who suited the club’s needs.
“Tom is an ultra-competitive player, has good speed and he loves to tackle so he’s got all the attributes as a pressure forward,” Cameron said.
“Our strategy this trade period was to be targeted in our approach of bringing in players who will make our team better and Tom fits this bill.
“By acquiring GWS’ future second-round pick, it will also allow us to accumulate valuable draft collateral for next year’s draft.”
Berry was recruited with pick 36 in the 2018 draft and has played 20 matches across four seasons with the Brisbane Lions.
