The Gold Coast SUNS are thrilled to announce the appoint of Peter Berbakov to the role of Performance Director as part of the club’s football program.
Berbakov joins the SUNS after most recently working with the Queensland Academy of Sport and prior to that held various roles including the Head of Football at the Sydney Swans over a successful 15-year period.
General Manger of Football Performance Wayne Campbell said the club was looking to ensure it continued to take steps forward both on and off the field in the pursuit of success.
“As we look to take the next step in our development as a football program, we identified the need to add someone who could come in and focus on driving performance across all facets of our program, identify efficiencies in what we do and help our department heads achieve their goals,”Campbell said.
“Peter is someone we identified as having a strong reputation and record of success throughout the industry, a vast range of experience and outstanding personal attributes that would help our players and staff succeed.”
“We look forward to welcoming Peter, his wife Mara and children Kailis, Phoenix and Ashe to the SUNS family.”
Berbakov will play a key role with the Coaching Group, in TPP Compliance, High Performance, helping to assist with staff development and driving special projects that focus on the future needs of the program.
“I’m thrilled by the opportunity to be back working within the AFL industry and more specifically with the Gold Coast SUNS as they look to drive some key outcomes over the next few years within their football program,” Director of Performance Peter Berbakov said
“Hopefully I can play a small role as part of the broader team, in helping to ensure that we perform at the highest level both on and off the field.”
Berbakov will officially join the SUNS when the football program returns in the new year.
