The Gold Coast SUNS has finalised its leadership group for the 2023 Toyota AFL Premiership Season, with Touk Miller and Jarrod Witts to once again lead the club as co-captains.
The seven-man leadership group will remain the same as the 2022 season, with Sam Collins continuing as vice-captain.
Supporting Miller, Witts and Collins will be David Swallow, Nick Holman, Sean Lemmens and Noah Anderson.
“It’s a privilege to continue leading this club as we strive to become the first playing group to make history for the SUNS and achieve success in September,” Miller said.
“I’m eager to continue to learn and evolve as a captain of the club and build on the strong foundations we’ve set as a leadership group already.”
2023 will be Witts’ fifth year as captain of the club, with the 30-year-old speaking of the way each leadership member complements the group.
“I’m honoured to continue to lead this great club and shape our direction as a football team,” Witts said.
“Across the seven of us in the leadership group we have different skillsets which complement each other well.
“We have a great reach amongst the playing group and I’m confident this group will be able to continue to lead the club towards success.”
GC SUNS General Manager of Football Performance Wayne Campbell said an unchanged leadership group was a sign of the stability within the club.
“Our leaders have done a fantastic job in driving the standards of the playing group and have taken ownership of the team which is the sign of a strong leadership cohort,” Campbell said.
“To have an unchanged leadership group this season is a testament to what we have built over the past couple of years and the direction we are heading as a football club.
“We are really proud of the level of leadership across the entire playing group, and particularly the support the leaders get from the players themselves.”
The SUNS take on GWS in a practice match at 11:10am AEST on Saturday, with the match broadcast on Kayo and Fox Footy.
