The Gold Coast SUNS will pay tribute to those who have dedicated their lives to serving our country when the team takes to the field in Round 6.
The SUNS play North Melbourne at 4:40pm on Sunday afternoon at Heritage Bank Stadium in the AFL’s ANZAC Round.
A specially-designed ANZAC guernsey will be worn by the home side, featuring poppies and a sprig of rosemary for remembrance, the rising sun to signify the ANZAC dawn services and the words “Lest we Forget” on the back.
“Our guernsey really reflects that ANZAC spirit and it’s fantastic our colours work in well with the rising sun,” GC SUNS Senior Coach Stuart Dew said.
“It’s an honour (for the players) and they’d be excited to wear an ANZAC guernsey with pride.”
It will be a complete match-day experience for SUNS members and fans in attendance, including a pre-game ANZAC ceremony on-field with both teams.
Attendees are encouraged to get to the ground early and be in their seats at 4:25pm to ensure you don’t miss the service. Main gates open at 3pm.
The SUNS VFL team will play a curtain-raiser to the AFL match, with first bounce at 12:35pm and early gates (Gate 3) opening at 12:30pm.
All match-day ticket holders can travel for free on public transport, simply present your ticket or membership on QLD Rail, G:link and Surfside Buses from four hours pre-game to four hours post-game. Shuttle buses to Heritage Bank Stadium will operate from Nerang Station, Boowaggan Road and Broadbeach South Station.
The 2023 SUNS ANZAC guernsey will be available for sale on the day in the SUNS Shop.
All match-worn guernseys by SUNS players will also be auctioned off post-game, with all profits to go directly to the ANZAC Appeal.
