Gold Coast forward Andrew Boston made a sizeable impact in what was a positive return to football for the Broadbeach junior from a long-term ankle injury.

Playing his first game in almost four months, Boston made a solid contribution in his comeback performance, kicking two of his three goals in a lively opening term.

The Gold Coaster’s promising comeback will no doubt give him plenty of confidence to build on, following his lengthy lay-off and extensive recovery from ankle surgery.

Speaking to goldcoastfc.com.au, Gold Coast NEAFL coach, Josh Fraser, said Boston had shown some encouraging signs in Saturday’s narrow loss to the Brisbane Lions reserves at Griffin Park.

“It was a good building block for ‘Bozzo’; pleasingly for him he will be able to build on that performance in coming weeks,” Fraser said.

Meantime, fellow goal-sneak Timmy Sumner also impressed in his first game back, and in bursts showed the kind of football that saw him play eleven senior matches last year.

He played primarily on-ball and through the midfield, picking up 22 touches, ten marks and four clearances.

Daniel Gorringe is running out games better following mid-season Achilles surgery, and could be in line to make his return to the AFL with injury clouds looming over Zac Smith (ankle) and Charlie Dixon (quad) following Saturday’s QClash.
