The Gold Coast SUNS can confirm Lachie Weller will be sidelined for the remainder of the 2023 Toyota AFL Premiership season after injuring his ACL.
Speaking to the Qscan Injury Update, GC SUNS General Manager of Football Performance Wayne Campbell confirmed that Weller would undergo a second knee reconstruction.
“Lachie had an incident with his knee in the late stages of the Round 17 match against Port Adelaide,” Campbell said.
“After subsequent scans and consultations, the decision has been made for Lachie to undergo a second knee reconstruction,” Campbell said.
“It’s bitterly disappointing news for Lachie and it’s important now that, as a club, we provide him all the support he needs.”
Weller has played in nine matches this season since returning from an ACL injury suffered partway through 2022.
The club will work with Weller to determine his recovery timeline post-surgery.
