The Gold Coast SUNS are coming off their first QClash win in their past nine attempts after thumping cross-town rivals, Brisbane by 41-points at Heritage Bank Stadium on Saturday Afternoon.
Inaugural SUN, David Swallow says that the win against the Lions was important although it is a must that the form carries through to Adelaide.
“It won’t be much if we don’t back up the performance this week,” he said.
Swallow and co will be looking to break another drought this week as the team gears up to travel down to Adelaide Oval to face the Crows.
A venue in which the SUNS have been winless at with 10 previous attempts.
“Everyone is really looking forward to getting to Adelaide this week. It’s going to be a really good battle,” Swallow said.
“We have played some good footy over there but haven’t quite gotten over the line,” Swallow said,” he added.
The SUNS games record holder spoke highly of up-and-coming midfielder Sam Flanders after a magnificent 32 disposal game.
“Sammy (Flanders) is getting a few more minutes through the midfield and he is really relishing that.” Swallow said.
The SUNS will take plenty of confidence from the weekend but know that with a four-quarter performance and playing their brand of footy, they can take it up to the best teams.
“That is the four-quarter effort that we have been looking for.
“Our best footy can match it with the best teams,” he added.
Gold Coast and Adelaide last played at TIO stadium in Darwin where the SUNS kicked 16 goals and defeated the Crows by 25 points.
The SUNS are live on Saturday 5th August from 2:10pm at Adelaide Oval.
