Claudia Whitfort has soared up the AFLCA AFLW Champion Player of the Year standings with a standout performance against the Pies on Sunday afternoon.
Whitfort has now received coaches votes in each of the SUNS’ three matches so far in 2023, with a season-high nine votes coming from Sunday’s historic win at Victoria Park.
She was one of three SUNS players to receive votes alongside Lucy Single, who earned eight votes after going toe-to-toe with former AFLW Best & Fairest Brianna Davey, and Jamie Stanton who led all comers in front of goal for the second week in a row.
Stanton kicked three goals to extend her lead at the top of the AFLW goal scoring ranks with 10 for the season, earning two votes.
Whitfort sits equal sixth with 19 votes for the season, four votes ahead of midfield compatriot Charlie Rowbottom (15).
