It was a different take on the traditional Big Freeze seen at the MCG each year, with the SUNS hosting a dunk tank and inviting players to kick at a target to dunk each of the VIPs invited.
Featuring in the list of VIPs was GC SUNS CEO Mark Evans, Senior Coach Damien Hardwick, Ian Healy, Ali Day, Tammy Hembrow, Alex Rance, Spida Everitt, Steve Titmus, Amanda Abate, Chelsea Paige (Besties Footy), Coop & Kylie and club partners Bruce Coulson (Kool Beanz SUNS) and Darren Nutt (Ganden Engineers).
The club has fundraised over $10,000 for FightMND - with approximately $8,000 raised on the day and an additional contribution of over $2,000 agreed to by the GC SUNS playing group.
FightMND CEO Dr Fiona McIntosh said she was thrilled with the support from the Gold Coast SUNS and the community.
“The whole Gold Coast community always gets around the Big Freeze and we’re so grateful,” Dr McIntosh said.
“Support from the Gold Coast SUNS just means so much because the Australian community has really got behind Neale and FightMND and without them we wouldn’t be making progress to beat the Beast which is MND.
“It’s fantastic to see so many great people coming out to Fight the Beast.”
