The Gold Coast SUNS defensive stocks could be bolstered this weekend with versatile defender Meara Girvan in contention to return to action.
Girvan has been sidelined since injuring her shoulder in pre-season match simulation against the Brisbane Lions, but is a possibility to be available for selection to face the GWS Giants in Canberra.
“Meara has been progressing well through her rehabilitation over the last couple of weeks. She will train fully this week and we’ll make a decision on her availability closer to this weekend’s game,” GC SUNS AFLW physiotherapist Jasmine Herlihy said.
Maddy Brancatisano also remains two weeks away from being available for selection with an ankle injury.
