Gold Coast SUNS AFLW Club Champion Charlie Rowbottom has capped off a superb year with selection in the 2024 AFLW All-Australian team.
The 21-year-old was named on the interchange in the 21-player team which was announced at the W Awards in Melbourne on Monday night.
The selection is a second All-Australian berth in as many seasons for the young midfielder, who had a career-best campaign.
In 2024, Rowbottom broke the record for the most clearances recorded in an AFLW home-and-away season (84), also leading the league for contested possessions (195, 17.7 avg).
She averaged career-high tallies in disposals (27.8 avg) and marks (3.9 avg) whilst also recording a personal best 42 disposals and breaking the AFLW record for most contested possessions in a single game in Round 3 (26).
“It is fantastic recognition for Charlie who has continued to go from strength-to-strength this season,” GC SUNS Head of Women’s Football Fiona Sessarago said.
“Whilst her hunger to be the best and continue improving on field is clear, we have also been impressed by her development off-field as well as a member of our leadership group for the first time in 2024.”
Monday night’s honour is the latest for Rowbottom who earlier this month won her second SUNS Club Champion award and was named as vice-captain in the AFLPA 22Under22 team - her fourth consecutive selection in that side.
