SUNS AFLW foundation player Jamie Stanton has been reappointed as Queensland Women’s Head Coach for July’s interstate representative clash against Tasmania.

It’s Stanton’s second season at the helm after guiding Queensland to a comprehensive 58-point win over Tasmania in 2024.

Having previously coached the South Queensland Women’s side in 2022 and 2023, Stanton says the opportunity is a further step in her coaching development on the eve of her seventh AFLW season as a SUNS player.

“I’m really excited to be appointed again and I’m looking forward to building upon the success the team had achieved over the past two years,” she said to AFL Queensland.

“Ultimately, I hope to provide a high quality program where the players want to learn and grow.

“Programs like the Queensland rep program are fantastic for myself to continue to grow my coaching skills to hopefully move into that space post my playing career.”

Stanton has played 69 AFLW games and was the SUNS’ inaugural AFLW Club Champion.

Queensland and Tasmania meet in Latrobe on Saturday, July 5.
