The Gold Coast SUNS can provide a Qscan Injury Update on several players heading into Saturday’s Opening Round clash against Essendon.
David Swallow is expected to miss eight weeks after sustaining a PCL injury to his knee in the AAMI Community Series fixture against Sydney.
“David received a knock to the front of his knee during the match and has sustained an injury to his PCL,” GC SUNS Head Physiotherapist Lindsay Bull told the Qscan Injury Update.
"We expect David to be available to play in eight weeks with a period of rehabilitation.”
Mac Andrew (chest), Lachie Weller (hamstring) and Charlie Ballard (ankle) are all listed as tests to face the Bombers in Opening Round after the trio left the field early in last Friday’s pre-season match.
The trio will look to train this week in order to be available for selection.
Sam Flanders (back) has been unavailable for both pre-season practice matches and won’t feature in Opening Round, with the midfielder one to two weeks away from a return.
In good news, vice-captain Touk Miller has overcome a knee injury and has been declared fit to face the Bombers.
First-year forward Leo Lombard has undergone surgery on his shoulder which was injured in match simulation against the Brisbane Lions and is expected to be sidelined until mid-season.
