VFL Head Coach Tate Kaesler has named an experienced side for the club’s season opener against the Casey Demons on Saturday morning.
Eleven players with AFL experience are named in the 23-man team to face the Demons, alongside several more running out for the first time in SUNS colours.
Captain James Tsitas will lead off-season recruits Asher Eastham, Cooper Bell, Ben Jepson, Lachlan Gulbin, Elliott Himmelberg and Max Knobel in their maiden VFL match for the club.
2024 VFL Team of the Year member Ned Moyle features in the ruck, named in the engine room alongside experienced trio Brayden Fiorini, Tom Berry and Alex Davies.
The SUNS and Demons have met three times previously in the VFL with Gold Coast leading the ledger 2-1, including a monster 88-point win in its penultimate match of the 2024 season.
