Gold Coast joint vice-captain Tom Lynch is the new leader of the AFL Coaches Association player of the year award.
Lynch polled six votes after kicking four goals in the 38-point loss to North Melbourne on Saturday.
He is sitting on 34 votes, with Sydney Swans midfielder Luke Parker and Melbourne tough nut equal-second on 31.
Following each game of the 2016 season, coaches from both teams vote on who they believed to be most instrumental to the game. Each coach votes for five players, allocating a score form 1-5. The maximum a player can register for a single game is 10 votes.
