The Gold Coast SUNS playing group ran their final time trial of the pre-season at Griffith University on Monday morning with training resuming after the Christmas break.
The club’s time trial king Josh Schoenfeld hung onto his crown with another strong run, closely followed by Touk Miller (second) and Jordan Murdoch (third).
Rounding out the top five were Wil Powell and Jacob Dawson, with the former only just edging out the latter in a tough battle.
SUNS coaching staff were impressed by the runs of Jacob Heron and Charlie Ballard who both posted improvements on their previous times.
Gold Coast’s first-year players were notable absentees from the trial, with both the draftees and state-league signings Josh Corbett and Chris Burgess attending the annual AFL Players’ Association/AFL Induction Camp in Melbourne.
Those who were available to run were split into two groups and started at opposite ends of the running track to help ease congestion.
As has been the case in previous time trials, three pace runners from Gold Coast Run Co. joined the boys and were scattered amongst the field to help set certain time benchmarks.
