Lynch and Rischitelli Injury Update
Gold Coast SUNS stars Tom Lynch and Michael Rischitelli had scans on Monday to determine the extent of the injuries they suffered in Saturday night's match against Essendon at Etihad Stadium.
Tom Lynch's scans revealed he will be sidelined for an extended period after straining his PCL (posterior cruciate ligament).
Lynch injured his knee in a contest with Jake Melksham during the second quarter of Saturday night's match against Essendon at Etihad Stadium.
General Manager Football Operations Marcus Ashcroft said it was too early to confirm a return date for Lynch.
"The results of Tom's MRI have confirmed a PCL strain.
The exact timeframe that Tom will be sidelined for is unknown and will become apparent as he works his way through the rehabilitation program."
The GC SUNS Deputy Vice Captain Michael Rischitelli left the field with an elbow injury during the third quarter of match.
Rischitelli was cleared of any bone damage following X-rays on Saturday night, however an MRI scan of the injury on Monday confirmed that Rischitelli suffered damage to his elbow ligaments.
Ashcroft said Rischitelli would see a specialist in the coming days to determine the appropriate course of action.
