Third place in Gold Coast’s 2019 Club Champion has been awarded to Darcy Macpherson.
In his first-ever podium finish, Macpherson narrowly edged 2018 Club Champion Jarrod Harbrow for third place, finishing on 368 votes and one ahead of Harbrow’s 367.
The 21-year-old has enjoyed a career-best year in the red and gold in 2019, playing every match of the season for the first time.
Macpherson was given the opportunity to play extensive midfield minutes early in the season, and the 174cm SUN took the opportunity with both hands to finish the year as one of the club’s most established and reliable midfield men.

Known for his exceptional defensive pressure, Macpherson brought that skillset into his new midfield role and finished the year as the seventh-most prolific tackler in the entire league.
He also ranked eighth in pressure acts and 10th in tackles inside 50 within the AFL.
The midfielder averaged 18 disposals, four marks and six tackles per game in 2019 after being upgraded off the rookie list at the end of the 2018 season.
The award follows Macpherson’s success at last year’s Club Champion where he took out the Most Professional award.
